Deputy Minister Maggie Sotyu engages Viedesville community as part of lead-up programs to 16 Days of Activism, 18 Nov

As part of lead-up programs to the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children, The Deputy Minister of Police, Ms. Makhotso Maggie Sotyu, will engage on a community outreach program at Thusong Centre, Viedesville, Bityi near Mthatha on 18 November 2016.  

The Community Outreach Program will focus on condemning rapes of the elderly women and forced marriages ‘ukuthwala’ of young girls. The area was also marred with the attacks and killings of elderly women accused of practicing witchcraft. This outreach program will also focus on mobilising the communities against the practice of labeling certain members of the community as ‘witches’ and the consequences of such actions.

An invitation is extended to the media to grace the event by attending and giving coverage to the event.
