Minister Jeff Radebe supports Ezase-Kasi Business Friday

Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, Jeff Radebe  delivered a keynote address at the launch the National Campaign called EZASE – KASI Business Fridays aiming to boost township economies nationwide.

EZASE – KASI Business Friday’s co- branded with the National Development Plan (NDP) Brand Identity to mobilise and actively engage citizens on the NDP and township economies. The brainchild of entrepreneur Siyanda Mtulu, EZASE – KASI meaning encouraging local companies (Corporate SA) and Capetonians in general, to look to the townships for their requirements as a way to 'Boost Township Economy’.

“Therefore this vision by Ezase-Kasi is such an important intervention to wrestle the bull by the horns. It is heartening when the youth of our country do not only ask what can be done for them, but effectively chart wayforward on what can be done to extricate our people from the trio challenges of unemployment, poverty and inequality”, said Radebe.

The NDP Brand Identity seeks to ensure a uniform communication approach across all spheres of government, implementing agencies and social partners championing the NDP. Government welcomes the partnership with business and labour to rally around the NDP in ensuring that there is a collective effort in implementing programmes of the NDP.

Radebe further said, “allow me to congratulate the visionaries behind Ezase-Kasi, who have bravely taken this initiative. As we have indicated from time to time, the NDP can only succeed in the main if the private sector fully participate in its implementation. Basically the NDP is about economic development programmes whose design has the ultimate objective of defeating the scourges of the trio challenges of unemployment, inequality and poverty”.

The NDP is implemented through the five year Medium Term Strategic Framework as programmes for all departments nationally, provincially and at the local level. The NDP can only succeed in the main if the private sector fully participate in its implementation. Government also adopted the National Youth Policy 2020, which is a blue print on youth development informed by the broad locus of the NDP.
