Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko on new portfolio as Minister of Public Works

Minister of Public Works ready to serve in new portfolio

Newly-appointed Public Works Minister, Nkosinathi Nhleko expressed a great deal of enthusiasm about his new portfolio after meeting with outgoing Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi, the Deputy Minister of Public Works, Jeremy Cronin and senior staff members in the Department of Public Works in Pretoria today.

“The President has given me the responsibility to lead the Ministry of Public Works, and as I have done before, I will do the job at hand as best as I can in the service of the citizens of South Africa under the leadership of the ANC Government.”

Minister Nhleko said it was too early to make any policy statements regarding his new portfolio. He will unveil his vision for the ministry of public works during his budget vote on 16 May 2017.

He said he was looking forward to working with key stakeholders in the new portfolio such as the parliamentary portfolio committee on public works, entities reporting to public works and relevant industry bodies.

Yesterday Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko met with the new Police Minister, Fikile Mbalula for an official hand-over.
