Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize participates in PWMSA National Women Empowerment Seminar, 23 Jun

Minister Mkhize to attend the PWMSA National Women Empowerment Seminar

The Minister of Home Affairs, Prof Hlengiwe Mkhize, will participate in the Progressive Women’s Movement of South Africa (PWMSA) National Women Empowerment Seminar that will run over three days. The overarching theme for the seminar will be: “Financial Inclusion, a Tool for Sustainable Women Empowerment”.

PWMSA is a registered Not-for-Profit Organisation that was launched in Bloemfontein on August 8, 2006. The Movement was launched to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the 1956 March of 20 000 South African women to the Union Buildings to protest against the carrying of passes by women.

The PWMSA membership comprises of more than 35 national multi-sectoral organisations and institutions and includes women representing civil society, labour, faith-based organisations, business, arts and culture and professional bodies.

The conference will be represented by all nine provinces and will include women from the most rural and remote areas in the country.

Participation will entail robust discussions on topical issues such as radical economic transformation, women empowerment and inclusion in the economic value chain. The seminar also presents an opportune moment for women to regroup, meet and discuss empirical issues impacting their position socially, economically and politically.

Members of the media are invited as follows:

Date: Friday, 23 June 2017
