Minister Michael Masutha interacts with community members and offenders, 8 Dec

Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Adv. Michael Masutha, will engage with community members and offenders at eMalahleni, Mpumalanga, as part of government’s public participation programme.

The public participation programme serves as a platform for Ministers and Deputy Ministers to interface with communities across the board, towards deepening participatory democracy and accounting directly to citizens. Under the theme: “Together we move South Africa forward,” such platforms also provide an opportunity for communities to engage with government in order to address various challenges they are facing.

According to Census 2011, Emalahleni Local Municipality has a total population of 395 466 of whom 81,3% are Black African, 15,7% are White and the other population groups making up the remaining 3,0%.Of those aged 20 years and older, 4,0% have completed primary school, 35,7% have some secondary education, 31,5% have completed matric,14,0% have some form of higher education and 5, 8% have no form of schooling.
