Minister of Small Business Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, will address the Made in Africa Pop-Up: Opening night cocktail tonight, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 at the Durban Exhibition Centre as part of WEF Africa. Minister Zulu will speak at 20h00.

The Made In Africa Pop-Up is an exciting platform provided during WEF Africa 2017 which shines a spotlight on emerging entrepreneurs in the creative industry. The programme involves a number of small business in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and Africa. It brings together high level talent start- ups from Africa. It’s an area that will be frequent by delegates for a variety of goods and activities.

Minister Zulu has cautioned against underestimating the importance of crafts and arts in job creation and economic growth. South Africa’s diverse and dynamic arts and culture heritage is one of its richest and most important resources, with the capacity to generate significant economic and social benefits for the nation.

“We are encouraged by the growing appreciation and acknowledgement of the potential and significant contribution which a vibrant and dynamic arts and culture sector can make to the economy of the country. We need to work together to grow our share of, not only the international creative industries market, but also the domestic market”.

Minister Zulu will also, on Thursday, attend a discussion session entitles “Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders: Shaping Africa’s Role in the World”, which focuses, among other things, on how African policy makers can advance policies and programmes that better serve Africa’s interests.

Minister Zulu will also participate in a plenary session entitles “Empowering Africa’s digital disruptors. The session will look at how Africa can develop an enabling ecosystem that helps start-up entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to thrive in regional markets and global supply chains
