Minister Jeff Radebe visits Thembalethu School for physically disabled children in Gugulethu, 17 Feb

Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, Jeff Radebe will visit Thembalethu School for physically disabled children in Gugulethu Township, Cape Town.

The visit by Minister Radebe is under the auspices of the Front Line Service Delivery Monitoring (FSDM) conducted to periodically monitor progress to ensure that interventions and government frontline services yield demonstrable results in changing the living conditions of the majority of the people of South Africa.

Minister Radebe is also expected to interact with the learners at Thembalethu which is an English and Xhosa medium school that accommodates children from age 3 to 10 years on admission with classes up to Grade 9.

The National Development Plan (NDP) that is under the stewardship of the Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) calls for the implementation of a joint national initiative involving all stakeholders to drive efforts to improve learning outcomes in schools.

Education is an apex priority for the government and  the NDP calls for collective effort  for all sectors of society to work together in order to achieve the desired outcomes of improving the quality of teaching in schools, colleges and universities to ensure that  young people obtain the best education possible.
