The Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Honourable Gugile Nkwiti and the Honourable Premier of the North West Province, S.R.O Mahumapelo accompanied by the Chief Land Claims Commissioner Ms Nomfundo Ntloko-Gobodoee will on Friday 09th June 2017 visit De Paarl restitution farm which is one of the most successful land claims in the North West Province.
The claim was lodged by Mr. N.D.Vilakazi on behalf of the original dispossessed individuals and their direct descendants who had lived on the farm known as De Paarl 54 IO.
A total amount of R39, 862,950.00 was spent in buying back the 4582.3748 hectares of productive land which was subsequently restored to the thirty seven (37) land claiming households who had lost the farm De Paarl.
To ensure sustainability and development, the Department spent an extra R14, 528, 386. 51.
The Minister and the Honourable Premier of North West Province together with other delegates will take a tour of the farm with the media to highlight the good work done by the Commission on Restitution of Land Rights in the Province.
