Minister Faith Muthambi congratulates Rhulani Baloyi for scooping special award at the SAFTAs

Minister of Communications, Ms Faith Muthambi congratulates the SABC's television and radio presenter, Rhulani Baloyi, for scooping a coveted Special Recognition Award at the South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas). The award serves as an acknowledgement of the strides Baloyi has made in television. “Baloyi has shown us that disability is not an impediment to success,” said Muthambi.

She added: “I am thrilled for Baloyi and her employer, the SABC. The public broadcaster’s relentless efforts to empower disabled employees and give them opportunities especially, in on-air shows, have not gone unnoticed. For that, the SABC deserves to be congratulated.”

The glamorous awards ceremony was held on Saturday night in Midrand, north of Johannesburg. The SAFTAs, which are South Africa's own version  of the  Emmy  Awards , celebrates excellence in all aspects of the film and television industry 

The Minister further congratulates all winners in the various other categories of the awards.
