The Minister of Environmental Affairs, Dr Edna Molewa, and the Director-General for Environment, European Commission, Mr Daniel Calleja, will deliver the keynote addresses at the South Africa-EU Dialogue on Sustainable Transition: The Role of Circular Economy in Durban on 4 May 2017.

The seminar forms part of the programme of the EU Circular Economy Mission to South Africa and will bring together a number of the European and South African experts to discuss the benefits of circular economy both from the economic and environmental perspectives. The event seeks to discuss the links between the circular economy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular SDGs No.8 and No.12, and specific circular economy-related indicators that could be used to monitor progress in achieving these SDGs.

The seminar is taking place in parallel to WEF Africa, which has circular economy on its agenda.
