Minister Bathabile Dlamini visits Tebogo ECD Centre in Soshanguve Township as part of Mandela Day celebrations, 15 Jul

The Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will as part of Nelson Mandela International Day build-up activities; visit Tebogo Early Childhood Development Centre (ECD) centre in Soshanguve on Friday, July 15.

Nelson Mandela International Day or Mandela Day; is an annual international day in honour of South Africa’s former President Nelson Mandela and is commemorated on 18 July which is uTata Mandela's birthday. The United Nations (UN) declared in November 2009 that this day should be commemorated by citizens of the world through voluntary work and service and the first UN Mandela Day was held on 18 July 2010.

The visit to the centre is taking place in partnership with Dibataladi Bikers Club and have committed to assisting with the development of Tebogo ECD centre. The Bikers Club also committed that it will help raise funds for the construction of a new centre for the attending Tebogo ECD Centre.

The Minister will together with Social Development officials assist with cleaning, painting, tree planting, vegetable gardening, fencing and also donate educational toys as well as stationery to the centre.

Department of Social Development will help the centre to register and comply with the Children’s Act 38 of 2005.
