The Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will on Friday, June 3, host an Imbizo in Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape. The Department of Social Development through Project Mikondzo held dialogues with communities around the area.
The dialogues report reveals a community that receives limited or no service delivery in the area while it is plagued with drug abuse, sexual violence against women and children, unemployment and nepotism.
The dialogues also established that the communities of New Horizons, Pine Trees, Qolweni, Gatjie and Green Valley received information about government services strictly in Afrikaans and children were dropping out of school before passing matric.
Most families survived by getting a social grant.
