Minister Dipuo Peters attends national road safety school debate competition final in Limpopo, 7 Oct

The Minister of Transport, Ms Dipuo Peters will attend the national road safety competition final debate in Polokwane, Limpopo Province, on Friday 7 October 2016.

The event is hosted by the Department’s entity, the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) in collaboration with the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety.

The topic for the final debate is: “Traffic Law Enforcement in South Africa is adequate to ensure adherence to the rules of the road.”

High school learners from all the nine provinces are gathering in Polokwane to discuss various interventions required to reduce road crashes and improve road safety in South Africa.

All teams represented at this national event have come out victorious in debates that were in their provinces in the last couple of months. The winning provincial teams will receive awards.

This is a project undertaken in response to the Decade of Action objectives to reduce road deaths by 50% in South Africa by 2020.

Minister Peters will be joined by the MEC of Transport and Community Safety in Limpopo, Ms Nandi Ndalane, various key transport stakeholders and high school learners from all the nine provinces.
