Minister Davies on the untimely death of Don Mkhwanazi, prominent businessman

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies says the nation and business community, particularly black business has been robbed by the untimely death of a businessman Mr Don Mkhwanazi.

Mr Mkhwanazi was one of the members of the first Presidential Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Advisory Council appointed by President Zuma in 2009. The Council played a critical role in the amendment of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Act and Codes of Good Practice.

Minister Davies has conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Mkhwanazi family relatives, friends and the black Business community. In paying tribute to Mkhwanazi, the Minister said that the late prominent Businessman will forever be remembered for his commitment and selfless towards creating an inclusive and transformed economy.

“Mr Mkhwanazi was known as a fearless champion of B-BBEE; Transformation; and Economic development. He was indeed a true entrepreneur and an inspiration to many;" said Minister Davies

Minister Davies added that Mkhwanazi was also instrumental in crafting the Black Industrialists Policy as mandated by President Zuma.
