Minister of Basic Education launches the National Schools Hygiene and Sanitation Programme with Unilever at Skeen Primary in Alexandra

The Minister of Basic Education Mrs Angie Motshekga will on Monday, 26 June 2017 launch the National Schools Hygiene Programme in partnership with Unilever. The launch will take place at Skeen Primary School in Alexandra, Johannesburg.

The National Schools Hygiene and Sanitation Programme is aimed at decreasing preventable infections on learners and help increase school attendance. It is envisaged that programme, which will support the curriculum, will be rolled out from September 2017 to 15 000 public primary schools across the country and will be implemented in class by teachers through a proven 21-day behaviour change model.

The minister will be joined at the launch by the Global CEO of Unilever Mr Paul Polman and senior managers from both partners including local leaders and education officials.
