Communications engages with communities and stakeholders ahead of Budget Vote in Parliament, 24 to 26 May

Minister and Deputy Minister of Communications to hold Community and Stakeholder Engagements in the period leading to the delivery of the Departmental Budget Vote in Parliament

The Minister of Communications, Ms Ayanda Dlodlo, and Deputy Minister, Ms Tandi Mahambehlala will table the Department of Communications (DoC) 2017 Budget Vote on the 26 May 2017 at 10h00  in the National Assembly.

The objective of the DoC Budget Vote speech is to demonstrate to the Communication Portfolio Committee members and South African citizens how the departmental budget will be utilised to support annual strategic targets to ensure that the department delivers on its mandate.

The Ministry comprises two national departments, the Department of Communications and Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) as well as five State Owned Entities: Brand South Africa; the Film & Publication Board (FPB); the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA); the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA), and the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).

The Budget Vote will create a platform for the Minister to report back on the activities and the work done by the two department and entities in the past financial year.

Pre-Budget Vote activities

Prior to the Budget Vote, the Minister, the Deputy Minister and representatives of DoC entities will embark on a series of stakeholder and community engagements in and around Cape Town aimed at building an informed citizenry through information sharing and dialogues, reinforcing nation building and social cohesion as part of Africa Month and improving stakeholder relations.

These will culminate into the delivery of the Budget Vote speech as well as the Post Budget Vote Media Briefing on the 26th .
