Department of Women hosts Men's Ro-neta “Enough is enough” rally, 21 Nov

Men’s Ro-Neta (Enough Is Enough) Rally

A resolution was taken to heighten the male involvement in the fight against women and children during the International Men’s Day (19 November). This is in line with “CountMeIn” Together Moving a Non-Violent South Africa Forward theme adopted during the 2014 - 16 Days of Activism Campaign which calls for everyone’s involvement including men in the fight against gender-based violence.

The International Men's Day is a day designed to focus on men and boy health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting positive male role models. It is an occasion for men to celebrate, in particular their contributions to community, family, marriage, and child care while highlighting the discrimination against them.

On the 21st November 2015 the Department of Women will be hosting a Men’s Ro-neta (Enough is Enough) rally in Soshanguve. We call on all men to join thousands of South African men as they say: “Ro neta!” (Enough – not in my name), and rise up to be counted in #CountMeIn against gender based violence and child abuse.

The purpose of the Ro-neta rally is to mobilise men to join the fight to end violence against women and children and to raise awareness on the impact of this scourge on the development of our society as well as the causal link between violence against women and children and the HIV and AIDS epidemic.
