Media briefing by the Transport Minister, Mr Joe Maswanganyi, on the outcome of the meeting between the Department of Transport, the meter taxi associations and the e-hailing operators
Members of the media are invited to a media briefing by the Minister of Transport, Mr Joe Maswanganyi, on the outcome of the meeting between the Department of Transport, the Meter Taxi Associations and the E-Hailing Operators. This meeting follows the increase in violence involving both these operators.
Government is therefore calling this meeting to get to the root cause of the disputes and together with parties involved to find a permanent solution to the conflict that has engulfed the industry.
Prior to this meeting, Government made numerous calls to both the operators to denounce acts of violence and intimidations against each other and to always uphold the law and the provisions of the National Land Transport Act that govern public transport.
