The MEC of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements, Paul Mashatile, has congratulated the two Departments he is in charge of for achieving clean audits.
MEC Mashatile said that the awarding of clean audit by the Auditor General to the two Departments was an affirmation of clean governance and accountability.
“The management and staff of the Department of Human Settlements rose to the occasion of satisfying the Auditor General strict requirements, “he said.
The MEC said that a clean audit finding was a foundation to ensure that the Departments are able to account for their budget.
MEC Mashatile said that the clean audit also paved way for the Department of Human Settlements to continue with the Mega Human Settlements projects with no cloud hanging over its finances.
“As we forge ahead with Project 50K, we will do so having in mind that it is not enough to deliver the 50 000 houses but we must be able to do so within clean governance and be able to account to the people,” he said.
