MEC Ismail Vadi opens Provincial road P46/1 in Meyerton, 10 Feb

Provincial road P46/1 to be given a new lease of life

Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Dr Ismail Vadi, will officially launch the rehabilitation of P46/1 road in Meyerton, South of Johannesburg.

The road is nearing end of its serviceable lifespan regarding the pavement structure on certain sections and has been identified by the Department for periodic maintenance.

Power Construction (Pty) Ltd, appointed through an open tendering process, is the main contractor for the R50 million project.

P46/1 traverses mainly through a rural environment, connecting Meyerton in Sedibeng to Katlehong in Ekurhuleni. It serves as a major collector/distributor for urban areas along the route. It further serves as an alternative to the R59 highway.

The rehabilitation project includes extending the usable life of the road, addressing the safety aspects for users through surfacing, repairs and installations of guardrails, road signs and markings, bridge railings, edge beams, as well as ongoing maintenance.

Details of the event are as follows:
Date: Friday, 10 February 2017
Time: 10h00
Venue: Project Site Office, 58 Rooibok Road, Meyerton (next to Midvaal Municipality Offices)
