MEC Ismail Vadi launches rehabilitation of D1944 near Rust der Winter Nature Reserve, 16 Mar

Road project to boost local economy and create job opportunities

Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Dr Ismail Vadi, will on Thursday, 16 March 2017, officially launch the rehabilitation of D1944 near the Rust der Winter Nature Reserve, north-east of Pretoria.

The R150 million project, which includes the upgrading of the road from gravel to a surfaced (paved) road, is expected to take 18 months.

The improvements will include the construction of bus/taxi lay-bys as well as the erection of bus shelters.

D1944 is a tertiary provincial gravel road in the north-eastern corner of the Province. Expected road user and economic benefits include reduced travel time, easy access for transportation of goods and services as well as improved road safety.
