MEC Ismail Vadi launches R511 (William Nicol) road rehabilitation project, 6 Jul

R511 Road rehabilitation project to boost tourism

Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Ismail Vadi, will on Thursday, 06 July 2017, launch the R511 (William Nicol) road rehabilitation project in Pretoria, towards the Gauteng/North West border.
 
The R150 million road project is fully-funded by the Department and anticipated to reduce congestion as well as facilitate the development of tourism in the surrounding areas.
 
The R511 Road serves as a collector and distributor for rural areas and towns along the route road and will not be tolled.
 
Additional objectives of the project include provision of skills development opportunities, training and economic empowerment to BEE’s and SMME’s and improve linkages between various economic nodes and development corridors.
 
The project is also designed to be labour intensive and preference will be given to local SMMEs to meet the 30% sub-contracting requirements.
