Tomorrow, in the wake of Human Rights Day and in light of the school holidays, Western Cape Social Development MEC, Adv. Albert Fritz, will be hosting 150 youth from the Mitchells Plain and surrounding areas for a School Holiday Programme.
The day will have fun activities, including music concerts, sport and cultural activities, board games and a self-defense class with World Kung-Fu Champion, Muhamad Junaid Li. This is all part of efforts by the Department of Social Development to provide alternative spaces for youth, and keep them off the streets and away from negative social influences, such as gangsters and drugs.
MEC Fritz will also use the day to raise awareness amongst the youth about the need to defend their human rights, through the symbolism of hosting a self-defense class.
There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.
