Mpumalanga Traditional Affairs hosts Mathibela day in Oakley, 3 Sept

Mathibela Traditional Council Cultural Function / Ummemo

The Mathibela Traditional Council led by Kgoshi Lameck Mokoena, who is also the Chairperson of the Mpumalanga House of Traditional Leaders (MPHTL) will on Saturday, 3rd September 2016 celebrate the annual Mathibela Day.

The Deputy Minister for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Leaders, Mr Obed Bapela, Members of the Executive of the House, the Executive Mayor of Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, Cllr Sylvia Nxumalo and the local community will be in attendance.

The function coincides with the Heritage month and the Public Service month. “I am very pleased that the event is the platform that showcases our history. It is a display of myriad of cultural values and norms, as we are expecting people from different cultural background,” said Kgoshi Mokoena.

The Mathibela Traditional Council is one of the 60 recognised traditional councils in Mpumalanga. Cultural functions such as these are held annually to revitalise heritage and traditional legacies.
