MEC Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana visits Takalani in Nzhelele as part of Mandela day, 18 Jul

Nelson Mandela International Day was launched in recognition of Nelson Mandela’s birthday on 18 July, 2009 via unanimous decision of the UN General Assembly. It was inspired by a call Nelson Mandela made a year earlier, for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices when he said that “it is in your hands now”.

It is more than a celebration of Madiba’s life and legacy. It is a global movement to honour his life’s work and act to change the world for the better.

It is as a result of the above inspiration that the MEC for transport, safety, security and liaison, Me Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana will, amongst others, be taking part in the cleaning and painting at Takalani in Nzhelele, Vhembe District Municipality.

The MEC will also be accompanied by the senior management of SAPS; Transport and the department of correctional services. The paroles from the department of correctional services will also join the MEC in the painting at the centre. The MEC will also donate other goodies to the centre.

You are invited to join the celebration of the day to be held as follows:

Venue: Silomo, Takalani centre, Nzhelele, Vhembe District Municipality
Time: 10h00
