Limpopo Government will this year celebrate International Day for persons with disability at Namakgale, Mopani district under the theme “Celebrating 60 years of the Freedom Charter: South Africa – a free and just society inclusive of all persons with disabilities as equal citizens”.

Premier Chupu Stanley Mathabatha and his executive council will be hosting the event; therefore all Limpopo residents invited to this celebration.

The annual observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December, aims to promote an understanding of disability issues, to promote the rights of persons with disabilities and to promote gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of the political, social, economic and cultural life of their communities.

The day provides an opportunity to mobilise action to achieve the goal of full and equal enjoyment of human rights and participation in society by persons with disabilities, established by the World Programme of Action concerning Disabled Persons, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1982.

Disability is the consequence of an impairment that may be physical, cognitive, mental, sensory, emotional, developmental, or some combination of these. A disability may be present from birth, or occur during a person's lifetime.
