Premier Mahumapelo meets businesses to address joblessness in Orkney, Matlosana

Premier Supra Mahumapelo of the North West Province will tomorrow, Wednesday 25 January 2017, meet with businesses in and around the City of Matlosana Local Municipality to deliberate on the creation of sustainable employment opportunities for young people in Orkney and Matlosana. The meeting will start at 17h00 at Matlosana Local Municipality’s Auditorium.

This will be Premier Mahumapelo’s first engagement with businesses following the commitment he made about a month ago, to mobilise the private sector in the area to join hands in reducing unemployment and poverty levels in these areas.

Local entrepreneurs and representatives from the mining sector are expected to be amongst the stakeholders that will attend and make pledges at this meeting.

The local residents had during last December’s restorative justice initiative led by Premier Mahumapelo, attributed the high unemployment rate amongst the youth as the main cause of violent crimes and gangsterism at the City of Matlosana’s townships such as Kanana in Orkney and Khuma in Stilfontein.

Premier Mahumapelo is leading this public private partnership initiative as part of the Provincial Government’s Reconciliation, Healing and Renewal (RHR) programme and the Saamtrek-Saamwerk philosophy.

Members of the media are invited to cover Premier Mahumapelo’s meeting with business people which will be held as follows:

Date: Wednesday 25 January 2017
Time: 17h00
Venue: City of Matlosana Local Municipality Auditorium, Klerksdorp
