International Tourist Guiding celebrations at Robben Island

The Department of Tourism in partnership with the Robben Island Museum (RIM) will host the International Tourist Guiding Celebrations at Robben Island – Western Cape.

Themed “Peace and Development through Guiding,” the two-day event will provide a platform for tourist guides to discuss their role in promoting peace, security and mutual understanding in relation to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Programme highlights:

  • Peace and Security – Role of Tourist Guides [Focus: global security challenges, crisis management]
  • Contribution of Tourism to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • The Root for Mutual Understanding – [Promoting and understanding of cultural diversity]
  • Guiding Groups through Controversy and Complexity
  • Beyond the Learning Individual or Organisation
  • Cross-border Regional Integration.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ms Tokozile Xasa will deliver the keynote address.
