The members of Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on Vuwani are today visiting traditional leadership and interacting with communities.

The following are engagement will take place today – 20 May 2016:
a) Masia Traditional Area - at the Masia Amphitheatre - @ 10h00
b) Mashau Traditional Area – CMC Church - @ 10h00
c) Masia Civil Society/Structure – Vuwani Fire Station - @ 12h00

Government will also as part of this community engagement programme, interact with other stakeholders. The main messages will still emphasise the following:
a) Urging continued stakeholders’ engagements.
b) No degree of intimidation of communities, business, learners, educators and other stakeholders will be tolerated as it constitutes a gross violation of human rights and the law.
c) Government will do everything to ensure the protection and safety leaners and the infrastructure, but communities have the bigger share of responsibility. We urge communities to also do their part – education and public safety is a societal responsibility.
d) Processes are in place to deal with demarcation issues as such schooling should continue.

Government commends the resumption of teaching and learning which has gained momentum in many schools around Vuwani. This positive response from the communities is already assisting to change the situation in Vuwani and surrounding areas.
