Improved audit outcomes for North West municipalities - Mahumapelo confirms
Municipalities in the North West Province have over the past year registered important improvements on audit outcomes. This was confirmed by Premier Supra Mahumapelo today, Friday, 26 February 2016, while delivering his State of the Province Address at the official Opening of the North West Provincial Legislature in Matlosana.
Attributing this milestone to strong political oversight, support by the Provincial Government through the Premier’s Coordinating Council and implementation of Setsokotsane throughout the Province, Mahumapelo said seven municipalities obtained Unqualified audit outcomes, nine obtained Qualified audit outcomes, and six received Disclaimers.
Premier Mahumapelo said in a concerted effort to assist particularly the low capacity municipalities with the needed administration skills, a partnership with the North West University’s Business School will soon be forged.
This, Mahumapelo said, will see the University deploying experts to these municipalities to focus on amongst others, the quality of submitted financial statements, Supply Chain Management, Human Resource Management and Information Technology controls.
