North West Local Government hosts Human Settlements Indaba, 23 to 24 Mar

The Department of Local Government and Human Settlements in Bokone Bophirima, will launch the Moses Kotane Municipal Excellence Awards and the second phase Back to Basics - B2B Programme entitled B2B 10 Point Plan.

The awards are aimed at recognising good performance and awarding innovations as well as good practices in municipalities while the B2B programme to encourage all municipalities to become positively functional centres of good governance. 

Bokone Bophirima Premier Supra Mahumapelo, Deputy Minister of COGTA Adries Nel and MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements, Galaletsang Gaolaolwe will sign the B2B Pledge.

The Department will also hold a two-day Human Settlements Indaba under the theme “Effective planning to turn Bokone Bophirima into a construction site through the implementation of the Villages Townships and Small Dorpies (VTSDs) approach”.

In the Indaba, housing experts will identify and discuss barriers that hinder sustainable and effective delivery of houses and come up with plans aimed at addressing the situation.

Amongst the dignatories that are expected to attend are: Premier of Bokone Bophirima, Supra Mahumapelo, Minister of Human Settlements, Lindiwe Sisulu, Traditional leaders, Executive Mayors and Mayors, Councillors and housing developers.
