Gauteng welcomes investigation into deaths of Psychiatric patients
Gauteng Premier David Makhura welcomes the Health Ombudsman’s investigation into the deaths of psychiatric patients in Gauteng.
The Gauteng MEC for Health, Qedani Mahlangu appraised both Premier Makhura and the Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi on the matter.
Mahlangu requested assistance from the Health Ministry.
A decision was subsequently taken to have the matter investigated by the Health Ombudsman.
Premier Makhura said “We are a caring government and any patient deaths are of concern to us. We extend our sincere condolences to the affected families. We hope the investigation will assist us in establishing the facts.”
The Gauteng government awaits the report and its recommendations.
