The South African Police Service’s (SAPS) to launch Safer Festive Season Operations 2016/2017 – Operation Back to Basics
The South African Police Service’s (SAPS) leadership will be hosting the official launch of the annual national festive season operations in Kwa-Mhlanga, Mpumalanga province, on Monday, 14 November 2016.
The nationwide operations themed “Operation back to basics” commenced on 10 October 2016 and will continue until 31 January 2017. They are aimed at making South Africa a safe place during the 2016/17 festive season period.
As part of the programme, SAPS delegation under the leadership of Acting National Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khomotso Phahlane, will lead a Community outreach programme and engage with stakeholders in the taxi industry; a move informed by the recent fatal spate of taxi violence in Kwa-Mhlanga.
