MEC Helen Sauls-August hands over houses to farm workers and unemployed people of Kenton-on Sea, 21 Jul

Eastern Cape MEC for Human Settlements, Ms Helen Sauls-August will handover houses to seasonal farm workers and unemployed people of Kenton-on Sea on Thursday, 21 July 2016.

The department has budgeted R85 million to build 560  free housing units in a prime property land in Kenton-on Sea. The municipal land is in close proximity to the beach and adjacent to the affluent upmarket houses in the area. This new development, one of the few to be developed in prime land forms part of government programme of integrating communities with different income levels to live together. 

The department plans to build 13 180 housing units this financial year with a budget of R2, 182.494 billion. In the past five years (2011-2016 ), the department has built 64 917 housing units and spent R14 billion rands.

The handover of  new houses will be held as follows:
