Police arrest two men for teen murder and tavern robbery

Two men (27 and 30) were caught during the early hours of this morning for Saturday's attack at a tavern in extension 12, where a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot during a robbery.

One of the suspects was caught in extension 12. The other was found in Johannesburg.

It is believed that a group of about nine armed suspects attacked the tavern during the wee hours of Saturday morning. According to reports, the suspects shot randomly inside the tavern before escaping with cash and items stolen from some of the patrons.

The teenager was shot in the upper body, while a patron suffered a gunshot wound on the lower body. The latter was treated at local hospital. He has since been discharged.

A manhunt has been launched for the remaining suspects.

The suspects will be charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravating robbery and malicious damage to property.

They are expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court soon.
