Deputy Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga hands over Information and Communication Technology Infrastructure, 25 Apr

Deputy Transport Minister Launches much-needed ICT Infrastructure at an impoverished rural community The Deputy Minister of Transport, Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga, will officially handover Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Infrastructure at Ramohlakana Secondary School in Limpopo on Monday, 25 April 2016.

Ramohlakana is located in Driekoppies village Blouberg Local Municipality, Limpopo province. The ICT Infrastructure which includes a library and mobile computer laboratory aimed at improving teaching and learning is donated by the aviation entity of the Department of Transport, Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS). ATNS has also donated the same Infrastructure at another nearby school - Selowe Primary.

The agency is committed to playing a vital role in addressing shortage of ICT and Science lab infrastructure in schools, particularly in rural areas. The Deputy Minister will be joined by MEC of Transport in Limpopo Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana, Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality Gilbert Kganyago, Mayor of Blouberg Local Municipality Sammy Selamolela, Chief Executive Officer of ATNS Mr Thabani Mthiyane, and members of the Bahananwa traditional authority.

The Transport Department will also offer career exhibition to approximately 300 leaners (Grades 7 to 12 learners) from both Ramohlakana and Selowe schools. This activity is an integral part of the handing over ceremony as it will promote aviation as a career of choice amongst learners.

Several transport entities and companies will be represented.
