The Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Mduduzi Manana, MP, will announce a Technical Task Team that will address Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) within institutions of higher education at the Intercontinental Hotel Johannesburg, OR Tambo Airport on Thursday, 6 October 2016.
The Department of Higher Education and Training, the student and academic leadership of universities and TVET colleges and the Higher Education and Training HIV/AIDS Programme (HEAIDS) are stepping up initiatives to respond to rape and other forms of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) within the large and geographically dispersed higher education and training sector.
The dialogues will provide the platform to interrogate complex issues and root causes of SGBV and to develop policy and inclusive and impactful programmes that lead to greater protection and safety of affected individuals.
