Deputy Minister Ayanda Dlodlo meets Bitou community on service delivery challenges, 7 Dec

As part of government on- going citizen engagement programme, the Deputy Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Ms Ayanda Dlodlo will meet the community of Bitou in the Western Cape on Monday 7, December 2015 to interact with local residents on issues of governance and service delivery.

The Deputy Minister’s Public Participation Programme (Imbizo) is a strategic vehicle that enables government to interact with citizens in its quest to improve service provision in support of the priorities of government.

The community imbizo will provide the Deputy Minister, joined by the Provincial and local government a valuable opportunity to update and engage with the local communities on service delivery programmes, to determine their level of satisfaction when interfacing with government.

Kurland in Ward 1 and the surrounding areas were identified as needing immediate intervention arising from the high level of youth unemployment. This event will also serve as an opportunity for government and the Bitou community to engage directly and discuss issues around poverty and unemployment.

During her visit, Deputy Minister Dlodlo is also expected to interact  with the frontline public servants at service delivery points about the status of service delivery and what should be done to enable them to do their work better, faster and smarter in line with the Batho Pele Principles.
