Deputy Minister Bongani Mkongi addresses stakeholders in Mitchell's Plain Cluster, 7 Jul

In ensuring greater participation of communities in the fight against crime, Deputy Minister of Police Mr Bongani Mkongi (MP) will address an engagement of the different stakeholders in the Mitchell's Plain cluster.

Thereafter the Deputy Minister will proceed to visiting the home of a women involved in an altercation with a SAPS officer on a recorded incident that went viral when the women resisted arrest and was seen being dragged by the officer. Tough the Deputy Minister understands the details that lead to the altercation of the officer and the women, a strong message must be send that police officers must understand better the new stance of the department with regard to its treatment of women and children. Women and children should be treated with dignity and respect so as to encourage them to be free to visit and report incidents of abuse.
