Free state Police Roads and Transport hosts stock-theft Imbizo in Bothaville, 10 Dec

The Department of Police Roads and Transport will be hosting stock-theft imbizo on Thursday, 10 December 2015 at Kgotsong in Bothaville. The Imbizo will start at 10h00am. The purpose of the Imbizo is to meet with the community and livestock owners to address challenges affecting livestock owners in the area and to encourage them to be more vigilant following a steady increase in livestock theft in the province.

Bothaville has been identified as one of the areas with a serious stock theft problem hence the Department finds it necessary to visit the area to assure livestock owners and farmers that the Department together with South African Police service is making progress in the fight against stock theft in Bothaville and surrounding areas.

Stock theft is costing South Africa millions of rands annually and it is seriously hampering the empowerment of emerging livestock owners and is threatening the profitability of all livestock owners.

Like with most crime types, communities are central to combating stock theft. The Department of Police, Roads and Transport therefore encourages communities to raise their vigilance and work hand in hand with our law enforcement agencies to combat the scourge.
