Government saddened by death of Tinyiko Mongwe

Government expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of five-year-old Tinyiko Mongwe after he was brutally killed by a 21 year old man who has been admitted in hospital after the community attacked him.

Government is shocked and devastated by this heinous crime.  Our deepest condolences to the family at this trying times. Tinyiko’s death has sent shockwaves throughout  the community and the country. We cannot imagine any pain more severe than that suffered when a child dies especially on the eve of the Easter weekend.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Tinyiko’s life was a blessing to all who had the privilege to know him.

Deputy Minister of Police, Mkongi said “ I am in support of Gauteng Community Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane’s interventions to address the matter and also calls community members to allow police the space to do their work instead of taking the law into their own hands.”

Government calls on all South Africans to keep the Mongwe family in their thoughts and prayers. It is the responsibility of every South African to protect our children’s right to life.
