Nzalo Careers and Freedom Park engage 67 learners on Critical Career Conversations and leadership on Mandela Day at Freedom Park
Under the theme, “The African Dream”, Nzalo Careers and Freedom Park will on Saturday 16 July commemorate Mandela Day by rolling out the Nzalo Mentorship Programme aimed at empowering 67 young grade 12 and tertiary learners from Olivenhoitbosch, Diepsloot, Ennerdale, Alexandra, Mamelodi, Atteridgeville and Sunnyside communities.
The main aim of the Nzalo Mentorship Programme is to cultivate a culture where young people ask relevant questions to experienced professionals and to also acknowledge the importance of having a mentor to keep them accountable in their journey to success. The event is structured to ensure that the platform allows both mentor and mentee to continue the relationship even after the event.
Apart from this event, the Nzalo Careers on a continuous basis conducts afterschool care programmes nationally. These programmes are aimed at facilitating career and leadership development as well as hosting various educational career activities.
Mandela Day in is more than a celebration of Madiba’s life and legacy. It is a global movement to honour his life - tata Madiba’s work and act to change the world for the better. This is a call to emerging leaders in today’s generation to get involved – It is in our hands to take action, says Nzalo Careers Managing Director, Ms Sedzani Netshitenzhe.
On the day, 67 high school learners and undergraduates together with their assigned mentors will embark on a 67 minute mentorship session at Freedom Park, with guest speakers like Shakes Dlutu from MSM Training and many more. Learners will also have an opportunity to hear what the youth dreams Africa should be like.
The Nzalo Mentorship Programme unifies a global leadership network passionate about investing in the next generation of youth leaders. The aim is to empower 67 young people on career, leadership and personal development skills so they can also take it back to their communities.
