Minister Faith Muthambi hosts Imbizo on Correctional Supervision and Parole Boards in Kgoši Mampuru II Correctional Centre, 10 Apr

The Acting Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Hon. Faith Muthambi will on Monday, 10 April 2017 host an Imbizo on Correctional Supervision and Parole Boards in Kgoši Mampuru II Correctional Centre.

This Imbizo will see a revised parole system paper (draft) tabled before relevant parties for discussion and inputs. The review process started in 2015 at a request of the Minister, Adv. Michael Masutha, who advocated for the involvement of the victims of crime when an offender gets considered for parole placement.

The Task Team appointed in 2015 has concluded its work and submitted a draft position paper which seek to usher a new parole framework for South Africa. This is well in tandem with the reforms in the criminal justice system as Correctional Services strives to ensure that those who are released from prison do not relapse and commit crime again.
