Correctional Services signs Memorandum of Understanding with Christian Revival Church, 6 Nov

National Commissioner Zach Modise will on behalf of the Department of Correctional Services sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Christian Revival Church (CRC) in Pretoria. The MoU seeks to formalise and consolidate the working partnership between the department and the church on the rehabilitation, moral development and reintegration of offenders back into society.

The White Paper on Corrections in South Africa states that “corrections is a societal responsibility” and that Faith Based and Church Based Organisations must be involved in the rehabilitation process of inmates in correcting an offending character. It is for this reason that the department will continue to call for more formal partnerships with different churches in addressing lawlessness and criminal behaviour among inmates.

The National Commissioner will be accompanied by DCS officials and an offender choir from Kgosi Mampuru II Management Area.
