The Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor, will address the opening session of the 4th Indigenous Knowledge Systems Interface Conference, scheduled to take place in Thohoyandou, Limpopo on Saturday, 3 December.
Organised by the Department of Science and Technology, in partnership with the University of South Africa and the University of Venda, the conferencewill be held under the theme"Towards a science and technology of humility inSouth Africa".
The conference is aimed at igniting conversations about the future of indigenous knowledge and at creatingspace for dialogue that seeks to generate new knowledge and train new cohorts of researchers.
The five-day conference will afford an opportunity for researchers, indigenousknowledge holders, healers and students to discuss progress made and challenges experienced and, most importantly, share best practices.
The Minister will be joined by the Premier of Limpopo, Stan Mathabatha, Vice-Chancellor of University of Venda,Prof. Peter Mbati, King of the Vhavenda, Toni Mphephu Ramabulana, and the Mayor of Vhembe, Cllr Florence Radzilani.
