President Jacob Zuma establishes Inter-Ministerial Committee on centenary of Mr Oliver Tambo

President Jacob Zuma has established an Inter-Ministerial Committee to prepare for the celebration of the centenary of Mr Oliver Reginald Tambo next year, the late former President of the African National Congress and one of the key founding fathers of South Africa’s liberation and constitutional democracy.

The year 2017 marks the Centenary of the late Mr Tambo, a national icon and hero of the liberation struggle, who shaped the country’s vision, mission and  value system.
 
The IMC will ensure that the legacy and heritage of Mr Tambo is known, understood, affirmed and celebrated in a befitting manner by all South Africans.

The members of the IMC comprise the following:

  • Minister in The Presidency: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation as Chairperson
  • Minister of Arts and Culture
  • Minister of Communications
  • Minister of Energy
  • Minister of Human Settlements
  • Minister of International Relations and Cooperation
  • Minister of Public Enterprises
  • Minister of Public Works
  • Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform
  • Minister of Transport
  • Minister of Water and Sanitation
  • Minister of Defence and Military Veterans
  • Minister of Police
  • Premier of the Gauteng Provincial Government
  • Premier of the Eastern Cape Provincial Government.

President Zuma has wished Members of the Inter-Ministerial Committee all the best in this responsibility.
