Gauteng Roads and Transport invests in Bronkhorstspruit road project

As part of efforts to roll out road infrastructure aimed at stimulating economic growth and creating job opportunities, the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport will on Monday, 21 November 2016, launch the rehabilitation project of Road D670 between Bronkhorstspruit and Ekangala.

The road carries heavy traffic volumes, including coal trucks running between various mines and power stations. As a result, the road condition has deteriorated and is in need of rehabilitation.

Upon completion, the R80 million project is envisioned to benefit motorists, particularly coal haulers travelling from Ekangala area towards the N4.

The department’s commitment to providing training, skills development and empowering BBBEE contractors, will see the main contractor sub-contracting a percentage of the work to local SMMEs.

Details of the sod-turning are as follows:
Date: Monday, 21 November 2016
