Department of Basic Education to hand-over state-of-the-art Zamilizwe Primary School in Ludeke, Mhlontlo Rural, Eastern Cape

The Department of Basic Education will officially hand-over the R21 million Zamilizwe Primary School in Ludeke, Mhlontlo Rural, Eastern Cape through the Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Development Initiative, (ASIDI) on Friday, 2 September 2016.

With the objective of eradicating Basic Safety Norms backlog in schools, the Departments ASIDI programme provides for schools were previously without water, sanitation and electricity.

Since inception in 2011, the ASIDI programme has built and delivered in excess of 170 state-of-the art schools across the country, a large portion of which are in the Eastern Cape. Over and above this, the initiative has provided water to 596 schools, sanitation to 414 schools and electricity to 307 schools that previously had no access to these basic amenities.
