Arts And Culture hosts African Fashion Vibes Show as part of Africa Month celebration at Soweto Theatre, 21 May

Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, invites the media to the African Fashion Vibes Show to be held on Saturday, 21 May 2016 at Soweto Theatre, Jabulani in Johannesburg.

The African Fashion Vibes Show forms part of the Africa Month celebrations under the theme: “Building a Better Africa and a Better World”.

The show will bring together local fashion designers and their Pan-African counterparts from as far as Uganda, Malawi, Ethiopia and Botswana, to showcase some of the most exciting local and Pan-African designs. The African Fashion Vibes Show amongst others serve as a platform to celebrate and promote African identity, create markets and networks, cultural exchange, integration, unity and solidarity within the continent.

The Month of May has been declared Africa Month, to celebrate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963, it was on this date that  25 May was declared as Africa Day as a symbol of unity amongst all Africans.  Africa Month also acknowledges the progress that we, as Africa have made and the Africa Month programme will feature all aspects of arts, culture and heritage among African nations.
