Government on media accreditation for 21st International Aids Conference

Media accreditation for the 21st International Aids Conference to be held from 18 to 22 July 2016 at the Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre, Durban

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, in his capacity as the Chairperson of the South African National Aids Council (SANAC), will lead the South African Government delegation to the 21st International AIDS Conference (AIDS2016) scheduled to take place from 18-22 July 2016 at the Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban.  South Africa will host AIDS2016 under the theme “Access Equity Rights Now”.

The International AIDS Conference is the largest conference on any global health or development issues in the world. The Conference is expected to be attended by more than 18 000 delegates from around the world.

AIDS2016 will provide South Africa with an opportunity to outline progress that the country has achieved in its efforts to combat HIV and TB challenges. South Africa will for the second time in partnership with the International Aids Society host this Biannual International Aids Conference. Sixteen years ago in 2000, the country hosted the 13th Conference in Durban.

Deadline for submission of applications is Thursday, 30 June 2016.
